I have been all about adding more ‘wardrobes staples’ to my closet in the past few months.  I guess I have finally realized it is WAY too sad cleaning out my closet every few months and realizing how many ‘trendy’ items I have purchased that barely see the light of day.  I really hate knowing that I have wasted money on items that will only be worn for a season or two.  Thats not to say I won’t still buy some trendy pieces, but I always make sure that I am spending a lot less on them.  I have finally kicked the mindset that it’s silly to spend a lot on simple items like a white t-shirt, a classic cable-knit sweater or a pair of nude pumps because they aren’t ‘fun.’  That thought is RIDICULOUS because those are some of the exact items I SHOULD be splurging on considering they will never go out of style.

This camel coat is something I know I will have for years.  The simple and classic silhouette makes it easy to style.  I paired this with yet another staple, a simple white button down.  This is another piece I have learned to purchase carefully as I have bought so many affordable options that wrinkle with wear and do not hold their shape.  Wrinkled clothes are just the worst!  Who wants to sit around an iron something after every wear? NOT ME!

I hope you are all having an awesome weekend.  We are having a super lazy day…as in I’ve already taken two naps and have barely moved from the bed.  Yesterday was spent getting new brakes on my care (thrilling, I know) and scouting out some more wedding venues.  We may have found the one (eeeeks FINALLY) which I’ll share more about once it is all finalized!

Did I really go more than a month without blogging?!  I’m not sure how that happened because I honestly haven’t been TOO busy.  With the start of the new year I have taken some time to step back and start brainstorming some new ideas for my space here on the world wide web so I hope to have some fresh new content and fun series coming soon! Being that its been awhile I figured I’d catch you up on my not so exciting life because you are all dying to know what’s new with me, right?!

My office moved to a new location which just so happens to be next to a pretty awesome mall.  This is great news for my closet and dangerous news for my wallet.  ‘Lunch’ breaks have a whole new meaning.  If my coworkers ask what I had for lunch the most accurate response would be ‘some Nordstrom with a side of Loft and Banana Republic.’  I’m kind of hungry these days.

I have looked at not one, not two, not three but wedding FOUR venues.  It only took me 6 months andddddd I don’t think any of them are ‘the one.’  OY.  I am really excited to see two others that are close by, one with an industrial look to it and it’s sort of a blank slate which is awesome.  I don’t know exactly what I am looking for but I do know that I don’t want your typical ballroom wedding.  Hopefully I’ll have a venue picked in the next few weeks and then off to bhldn I go!

My fitness talk has sort of completely dwindled on here but I wanted to update you guys.  I haven’t talked about fitness mostly because I have felt a bit uncomfortable giving advice or stating my opinions when I don’t have any fitness certifications.  I felt like every post involving fitness had to have some disclaimer stating that I am not a professional.  It’s a bit silly and I really would like to start incorporating more fitness/nutrition chat on the blog I’m just not sure of how but I do have some ideas brewing.  Anyways, back to the update…I have restarted BBG.  If you’ve been reading for awhile you know I am a big fan of Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide.  It’s a routine that really works for me.  The workouts are never more than 45 minutes and I can do the resistance circuits from home with a few pieces of equipment!  Working out is not so bad when you can watch The Affair or Grey’s Anatomy while you’re at it.

And lastly, tomorrow I am going skiing for my first.time.ever.  Pray for me!  Haha just kidding…sort of.  I am not all that coordinated so it should be interesting.   Jeremy is planning on teaching me so there’s a good chance that one of us (ahem Jeremy) will lose our (his) patience.  We are driving up to the Berkshires today, fueling up on something yummy for dinner and hitting the slopes tomorrow!

Hope you are all having a great weekend. Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas is officially over and Hanukkah runs right into the New Year so it’s time to bring out all the sequins, or a somewhat subtle amount in my case.  When I stumbled upon this skirt I could not peel my eyes away from it, the sequin and frayed details are TOO GOOD.  I love the mix of textures and that this perfect little New Years Eve skirt can definitely be repurposed for several occasions.  In the past I have found that I buy a dress that is ALL sequins for NYE and it does not move from my closet after January 1st.  I already have plans to wear this out to for our anniversary next month.  Jeremy and I will be celebrating 4 years!  Lets just pray that I don’t spill any wine on it.  Trust me, all the prayers are needed for that!

As I mentioned this weekend we are heading to my parents house today to celebrate Hanukkah with my family!  We always celebrate holidays back to back with Jeremy’s family and coincidentally end up eating the same exact meal both days.   So today will be day two of brisket and latkes but I don’t hate it!  I will be enjoying every last bit of my four day weekend!

Happy Holidays, friends!  Jeremy and I just finished lighting the menorah and exchanging gifts for the first night of Hanukkah.  He gave me a couple of pairs of these cozy pajama pants (yay for tall sizes!) and this sports bra.  I seriously love getting new workout clothes! I gave him this vest and these amazing socks.  Apparently we both couldn’t pass up the black Friday/Cyber Monday sale that J.Crew had going on.  We are so excited for lots of lounging around tomorrow (in my new pajama pants) and of course in keeping with Jewish tradition we will be indulging in some Chinese food.  Yes, that is really what the Jews do on Christmas!  On Monday we will be celebrating Hanukkah with Jeremy’s family and then with mine on Tuesday.  Four day weekends are the bomb dot com.  I am so excited for mass amounts of latkes and to watch my niece and nephew open all of their presents.  My niece has been known to get overly excited, her reactions are seriously the best!  I’ll try to remember to record a bit on my InstaStory.

Okay, now I’ll quickly give the scoop on this look because I can’t leave that out!  I wore this just the other night when Jeremy and I headed downtown for some drinks to celebrate the 4 year anniversary of the day we met, how cheesy are we?!  This sweater dress is the softest ever and the ribbed sleeves help to give it some shape.  It is definitely oversized but the comfiest material I own, it feels like pajamas!  Despite the dropping temperatures I refuse to stop wearing dresses so these over the knee boots are the perfect way to help cover up my legs and keep them warm.  I wear them with semi-thick socks and they don’t fall down or bunch up at all.  It’s tough to find a pair that fit just right but I definitely hit the jackpot with these and they are such a great price for boots!

Now it’s back to lounging around and watching movies.  I hope you all have the happiest of holidays with your loved ones!  Thank you so much for stopping by!

Leather Leggings: Nordstrom // Top: Old Navy // Booties: Steve Madden // Hat: Old Navy // Bag: Kate Spade Outlet

Years ago I bought a pair of mixed faux leather leggings for under $30.  They were faux leather on the front half and a regular cotton legging material on the back.  After re-wearing them so many times I realized it was finally time to invest in a pair that wasn’t half pilling from so many washes.  I purchased these during the Nordstrom Fall Clearance Sale and haven’t looked back.  The texture is SO good, as in they don’t look or feel cheap.  The quality is great for the price and considering how versatile these are the cost per wear is basically pennies.  Faux leather leggings are perfect for dressing up and have also made their way into the world of athleisure.  These are easily the perfect pair of comfortable ‘pants’ that can take you from day to night.  I also have to mention this hat which is such a steal right now!  I went ahead and bought it in both the black and tan because you can’t beat the price!  It definitely helped to tame my hair during the windstorm that was going on while we were shooting these photos.  One day my hair will learn to own the windblown look but for now I’ll stick to hats and the occasional frequent cropping of my head/face.

Jeans: Express // Cami: Topshop via Nordstrom ; other colors (wardrobe staple!) // Cardigan: Nordstrom (sold out); similar here and here // Booties: Sam Edelman // Bag: Old Navy

I have suddenly felt the need to buy all things neutral.  I am really drawn to almost everything gray, tan, white and black as of late.  I think it’s because I have finally realized that neutrals will never grow old and they are the items that will stay in my closet for years to come.  I really can’t remember the last time I bought something colorful (aside from candy-but I can’t wear that), if it’s not neutral it’s been some dark or muted color that is always easy to mix and match with a majority of clothes that I already have.  Anyways, I purchased this long cardigan during the Nordstrom Fall Clearance Sale and this color sold out SO quick (I’ve linked a few very similar ones below).  If I haven’t made it obvious already I am such a cardigan loving girl.  I really live in them year long.  They are perfect for layering at work, comfy for casual weekend wear, and can definitely be dressed up if you add a fun cami underneath #cardiparty.  I will definitely be slipping this one on once again this weekend while I finish up my holiday shopping.  Yes, that is a firm statement and I’m holding myself to it!  I have scoured the internet a whole lot these past two weeks so don’t forget to check my holiday shopping tab where I’ve rounded up gift ideas as well as some holiday party looks.

Sales on sales on sales. While I did a bit of shopping since Friday I did hold back a little because I knew the discounts would keep coming. Cyber Monday brings some of the best sales and retailers often offer free shipping today. That alone can be a game changer for me. I visited three of my favorite retailers so that I could give you my take on a few of my favorite items that are on sale today! I’ll also include sizing information because who wants to deal with returns? NOBODY. Alright, lets get to it!

The biggest shopping weekend of the year is here!  I’m currently thinking about which leftovers I’ll be eating (probably ALL of them) and browsing all the deals so I can continue crossing some people off my holiday shopping list.  If you haven’t already be sure to check out yesterdays post where I rounded up lots of the sales along with my top picks from a few of my favorite retailers. Today I am going to talk about some of the best sale items I’ve seen, what I have already purchased and what I currently have sitting in my online shopping carts.

Yesterday I mentioned the J.Crew sale and it really is a good one.  I made a few purchases for holiday gifts because at 40% off my purchase I really couldn’t go wrong.  There are so many great sweaters for the men in your life.  I ALWAYS get my brother-in-law a J.Crew sweater, it has become a tradition.  The quality is great and they always have a wide range of pullovers, cardigans, half zips and full zip sweaters, so many options!  I purchased this one for one person on my list (I won’t give it away in case he reads my blog, although the chances are slim).  J.Crew also has the cutest pajamas and PJ sets along with lots of great slippers!  I did a little shopping in that section as well because they even offer pajama pants in Tall sizes which is so necessary for us tall folk.  My mom, sister and I all agreed the pajama pants are forever shrinking after being washed, anybody else have this problem?

I always find that men are the toughest to buy for.  Both Jeremy and my dad always leave me stumped.  Last year Jeremy made my life a bit easier and requested an Apple Watch so I didn’t have to do much thinking on my own.  He wears it everyday so if you’re looking for a gift for guys who loves technology and gadgets I definitely recommend it.  Jeremy is borderline obsessed with technology and always needs the latest and greatest technology there is so for him to not be looking for another smart watch by now is a miracle.  There are lots of sales on smart watches here.  I also found some other great deals on Movado watches, which are always classic.  Check them out here and here.

If you are shopping for your friend, sister, aunt, mother, cousin or any other lady in your life I always suggest Loft.  It’s one of my favorite retailers to shop for myself, my sister and mother which goes to show that the clothes really appeal to a range of ages.  They are currently offering 50% off everything through tomorrow  (with code ‘FRIYAY’) AND you will receive $50 in Loft cash for every $50 you spend!  I recently purchased this navy suede skirt and I have this faux leather skirt in my cart along with my go-to work pants in yet another color (I already own the black and navy!). This scarf is so pretty and this hoodie is looks like something I’d never want to take off, both great gifts!

If you are looking to gift some items for the home then definitely check out the buy more, save more sale at West Elm.  Bed, Bath & Beyond has a huge sale on Dyson vacuums (the best!) and they are offering 20% of your purchase in store.  Someone on my list is requesting a new coffee maker so that wish will be easily granted! Another great place for items for the home is Crate & Barrel and they are currently offering 15% off with code ‘Save15’.  These gift combinations are genius and make holiday shopping SO easy.

While I am trying to stay focused on my holiday shopping for everyone on my list I can’t help but peek around for myself.  I may have to pull the trigger and buy myself these booties which I’ve been eyeing way before they went on sale.  I don’t have any gray booties so that’s enough to validate my purchase, right? I was so excited to see that Asos is having a 20% sitewide sale (code ‘gogogo’) as they have the best selection of scarves.  I love the colors in this one and this gray scarf looks too warm to resist.  I am sure you all know by now that I am a sucker for a good cardigan so this one obviously caught my eye and the reviews (I always read them) are telling me I won’t regret buying it! Lastly, I have been needing some new jeans so I recently spent far too long searching and trying on tons of pairs which was exhausting but suddenly worth it when I found these.  The fit is SO good and flattering.  I actually held off on purchasing them (it was tough) in hopes of catching them on sale today and WAH-LAH they are now 25% off.

Okay, now it’s time for a second cup of coffee and pie for breakfast!

First off, Happy Thanksgiving!!  I won’t get all mushy on you, mostly because I’m the least mushy person I know, but I have to touch on how thankful I am for ALL of YOU!  Blogging would not be nearly as fun for me without your support.  It would be more of a diary…on the internet, ha.  I love connecting with you guys and hope you all have the best Thanksgiving, and after Thanksgiving I hope you get the very best deals for all your holiday shopping (that includes some gifts for yourself!).

We all know the hype built around Black Friday and I have to say that while some deals may not be the best, there are others that are better than I’ve seen before…and trust me, I know a good sale when I see one.  That being said, I’ll be sharing the scoop on the best sales today and I’ll be updating you guys again tomorrow as more sales are revealed.  The Pre Black Friday deals should definitely not be overlooked,  I have already taken advantage of some major discounts and made some purchases from J. Fall has come to be my favorite time of year.  While I love the warm temperatures of Summer, it doesn’t quite match up to the gorgeous scenery that Fall has to offer not to mention the days of cozying up in leggings and an oversized sweater.  Some of my favorite outfits are those worn during the Fall.  It’s the time for plaid, scarves (my favorite!), boots and comfy knits #sweaterweather.  Today’s post incorporates all those pieces and I can often be found replicating this exact look.  So, today I am talking about three of my favorite Fall (and Winter) wardrobe essentials.

  1. First up are oversized cardigans because they are my favorite and I will never have enough.  Some may think they are overwhelming and not figure flattering but I’m over here remaining so thankful that I can cover my food babies while still being fashionable.  This one is actually pretty heavy and warm so it will also be perfect when Winter rolls around. It comes in a range of colors and at a great price point.  You can shop all the colors right here.
  2.  As I’ve mentioned several times I wear scarves almost every day during Fall and Winter.  They add both a layer of warmth and another dimension to an outfit.  Some of my favorite Fall scarves are of course plaid, tis the season! This one is SO soft and doubles as an office blanket for the days that I can’t handle the air vent directly over my desk.
  3. Last is of course shoes because you can’t leave home without ’em.  Although I love slipping on sandals in the Summer I must admit that it is SO nice to not have to worry about my pedicure being perfect all the damn time!  I have always loved booties but I recently found some over the knee boots that I am wearing more often than not.  This pair is only $70 which is honestly such a steal and they fit great! I went with the gray pair because I wanted something different and at such a low price point (for OTK boots) I definitely did not mind venturing a tad out of my ‘shoe color comfort zone’ (is that thing?). BUT, I recently purchased these in black and LOVE them.  They are a bit higher than the gray pair and hit a few inches above my knee.  I am super picky about OTK boots falling down and being too roomy or slouchy but I can vouch for both fitting really well.  I highly recommend them!

You’ll definitely be seeing more over these pieces over the next few weeks months so I hope you like them.  Personally, I’ll never get sick of this easy but comfortable look!  What are some of your Fall wardrobe essentials?

Thanks for stopping by!
